If there is one thing that I appreciate about my culture its the family dynamic. Its like EVERYBODY is a community baby. Youre not just raised by your parents. Youre raised by your grandparents, aunts and uncles...on both sides! With that being said, Ive been blessed with many motherly figures in my life and fatherly figures were also in abundance. I was named after my grandfather who was the High Chief of my family, an advocate for education in American Samoa, and an early worker in advancing the Assemblies of God denomination in all of Samoa. My grandfather on my dads side was a Vietnam War veteran with the Marines and THEE strongest man I know! For as long as Ive been alive, my father has had 2 or 3 jobs and still makes time for his kids. I pray hard for this fatherless generation, but Im always hopeful when I see men of MY generation take up the banner and be great dads. I never knew what a deadbeat dad was because the men in my family always took care of business! This status is for you! HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all of you who do your duties as dads and love on your children the way a father should. HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all of you who go above and beyond by loving on those who are fatherless!
