If this government is serious about combating poverty and achieving basic human rights for millions of vulnerable and marginalised Nigerians, It has to publicly acknowledge the prevalence of high-level official corruption in the country. While the countrys many human rights problems can be likened to bad leadership and gross incompetence. Jonathan should just forget about 2015. We cannot support him for 2015 for whatever reason. What we said we only confuse those who doubt; we have never doubt his failure. We have always believed that the man is incapable is incapable of running this country- Professor Ango Abdullahi. The present economic realities in our country is a vindication of the position of this commentator that Jonathan appointed Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the Minister of Finance and the coordinating minister of the economy for his own selfish interest and ulterior motives rather than national interest. It would be recalled that former president Olusegun Obasanjo humiliated Ngozi out of Ministry of Finance with her redeployment to Foreign Affairs Ministry which led to her resignation from his cabinet. It is patently clear to many Nigerians that Okonjo-iweala was recruited into Jonathans cabinet in order to use her professional experience to defend the mismanagement of the economy and to cover up the track of her boss and his acolytes. The foregoing explains why she always at the front of countering whistle blowers that expose shady deals of her boss and his cohorts. This also explains why she is always talking of economic growth without a commensurate improvement in the standard of living of ordinary Nigerians. The consequence of this growth without improvement in the standard of living of ordinary Nigerians have been high increased in poverty level, unprecedented increased in corrupt practices and increased insecurity across the country. Today, our country is still one of the countries with the highest cost of doing business any where on earth! Little wonder that many companies are moving thier headquarters out of Nigeria to Ghana. Infact, industrial capacity utilisation have continued to remain far below 35% for many years; while the Business Confidence Index (BCI) has continued to remain abysmally low, remaining persistently below 20% below for a decade and far below the 50% global threshold mark! Apart from the $16bn spent under Obasanjo, another $3bnhave been spent to generate darkness under Jonathan. What is more? A nation that paid off its external debts barely half a decade ago has again grown its external debt stock to more than $6bn. Under Okonjo-Iweala, both the countrys external reserves and excess crude account has been squandered! This piece will continue later due to time constraints
