The price is expected to go up with in the next 3 months due to the virus that has hit 22 states and forced the killing of massive amounts of piglets. Smithfield the largest pork producer in the US claims over 15% of their Sows have contracted it and are passing it onto their piglets. Hitch Pork Producers, a Guymon, Okla., livestock producer lost 30,000 piglets in six weeks in a 2013 outbreak.
