If you are looking for my normal quote of the day you will have to read this entire post. I hope its all worth it for you. December 25, 2014, waking up in a hospital is bad enough, but add to it the fact that its Christmas morning and that just amplifies the feeling. As I allowed my mind to wallow in the negative thoughts I realized that it was my choice, I choose to have surgery when I did knowing full well I could be in the hospital over Christmas. What hit me most though were all the other people here that didnt. My heart broke for them. The sick, the dying, the truly lonely people that have no one. You see, I am blessed. I am blessed way beyond what I should be. I am fortunate to have Caryn by my side, she is the best wife any man could ask for. Without her, there is no telling what the last 32 years of my life would have been like. All I can tell you is that if she had not been by my side I would have never been able to bring Caitlyn or Rebekah into this world. These you young ladys have turned into women right before my eyes. Yes, Im the dad and I know that there are many moments a look from me makes them cry but, thats my job...(our little joke) I am so proud of these girls. Being able to watch how they succeed in whatever they set their mind to. Even when dreams change their focus changes with it and 100% effort goes into achieving the new goal. I cant forget my son-in-law Matthew and everyone he brings to the party. Without Caryn I would have never met Becky and Gordon or Amy. With both of my parents having passed away almost 20 years ago, they have become the mom and dad I no longer have. Yes, they are my in-laws and I would be lying if I said we always agreed but the fact remains that they trusted me with their little girl and I hope I have proven worthy. Amy has been able to bring her husband Riley into my world and with his help Maggie and Molly. Talk about double trouble.....I have never seen twins so different yet so much alike. Uncle Boo will always love you girls. Without Caryn, I would have never met the rest of her crazy, loving family. Now I know I will miss somebody so please forgive me. But, Gayle,Aunt Barbara &Uncle Ron, Cynthia, Uncle Art & Aunt Nan, Benton & Melissa, Cody & Mike, Renee & Troy, Chuck & Sydney, Uncle Jerry & Aunt Patty, Uncle Jerry & Aunt Sandra, Randy, Lindy, Steve, Mara, Stephanie, Tree, Lora and all the kids that go with them. Without Caryn I may have never found Kerrville and the wonderful life I have been able to build here. My friends, which are way to many list, you know who you are and the important role you play in my life. I would have never been involved with some great organizations like Hill Country District Junior Livestock Show Association where I met Courtney and proceeded to tell her she would be working with me someday. Needless to say, the past five years have been outstanding! Finding Kerrville has also brought Angela & Chris, my sister and brother in law. I cant fail to mention their kids Abigail & Noah. Two kids that come across shy but just get to know them and you will see two outstanding kids. So, as we all gather around with family today, not only do I want you to think about those that dont have anyone, I want you to reflect as I did and think about what gifts you would be without if you didnt have who you have by your side. Caryn, you have given me so many gifts, thank you. I love you and I hope Im home soon. Now the quote.... Remember, no man is a failure who has friends. - Clarence Odbody I love you all......Merry Christmas!
