If you bought a computer with Windows 8 or 8.1 the product key is not located on the outside of the computer. It is ONLY embedded in the system itself. This means if you do not make your recovery disks it cant be reloaded. The only other way to retrieve your product key is to use Belarc Advisor which is downloadable from belarc/free_download.html PLEASE TAKE NOTE IF YOUR COMPUTER CRASHES WITH WINDOWS 8/8.1 AND YOU DO NOT DO THE STEPS ABOVE YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE WINDOWS 8/8.1 LICENSE KEY.
