If you ever want to get the full depth flavor of beef try some aged beef,its tantalizing with a good flavor and texture. Dry aged beef empanadas Recipe Ingredients; For the pastry dough 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsps. baking powder 1 tsps. salt 1//c of butter or margarine 1 c of water ½ tsp. thyme 1 egg For the filling 300 grams dry aged beef minced 1 large white onion minced Cloves garlic crushed I green bell pepper 3 large tomatoes diced 1 large carrot grated ½ tsp. each of black pepper and cayenne 3 tbsp. tomato paste 1 tbsps. Oyster sauce A bunch of dhania ½ c beef stock Method 1. To make the pastry dough mix the flour salt, butter, thyme and baking powder, add in a little water at a time until it becomes a smooth dough .Leave to rest for a few minutes 2. For the filling, pour some little oil and brown the minced beef over high heat and put aside on a plate. In the same pan add some little oil and fry the onions and the garlic until softened and fragrant, add the green peppers and the tomatoes and fry for a few minutes. Add the meat and fry for 2 more minutes. Then add the spices, the tomato paste, oyster sauce and the carrots and let fry for a few more minutes adds some little beef stock if starts to stick to the pan. Remove from heat. 3. Assemble the empanadas .roll out the dough thinly on a floured surface, cut circles with a 5” round bowl. Place a little of the filling mixture on one side of the cut circle and cover with the other side, seal the edges with a fork and place on a parchment paper on a baking tray. Do the same for the rest of the flour until all the filling mixture is used up. 4.For the egg wash :Whisk the egg with a little salt and a dash of cold water, using a pastry brush ,brush the tops of the empanadas with the egg wash, poke on top with a fork, place in the middle of a 200 Celsius preheated for 30-40 minutes until golden brown .Then let rest for 10minutes before serving
