If you get near the historic town of Jerome in central Arizona, stop in to nearby Clarkdale to see the remarkable Copper Art Museum. Thats Clarkdale as in the company town founded by W.A. Clark, father of the reclusive heiress Huguette Clark, and former owner of the United Verde copper mine in Jerome, once the richest copper mine in the world. The museum is in the former high school, which has a front door clad in copper. And the Clarkdale Historical Society, a few doors down, is also worth a visit, with its copies of invitations to high school graduations that were stamped on thin sheets of copper. On display in the Copper Art Museum are more than 5,000 items, every manner of copper item you could imagine: military art, decorative arts, kitchenware, drinkware, and on and on. Its a passion project: A family went looking for the right place to display their copper collection, and what could be better than Clarkdale, which produced millions in copper. The museums website is copperartmuseum/. See reviews from tripadvisor at tripadvisor/Attraction_Review-g60981-d4456188-Reviews-Copper_Art_Museum-Clarkdale_Arizona.html.
