If you go around calling yourself an ally to black people but purposefully blast music in the middle of the night with the intent of disturbing people whose anger and sorrow is expressed in a way you find offensive, please see yourself out. If you post hashtags about how black lives matter but needed unequivocal evidence to understand just how messed up this system is, you are excused. If you are upset that by police brutality but contribute to the violence black and brown students experience every day on this campus (and if you find it hard to believe that we do), you are dismissed. If you claim to support black people but are not there for them when they ask you to grieve with them or to simply listen to them and give them a hug, you can go. If you accept students of color into a university but then not only refuse to make the space safe for them but also further the criminalization of their bodies and continue to deny an apology for doing so, please leave. If you are uncomfortable with any of this you can remove me from your friend list now because I have too little energy that needs to go into finals, protesting, and maintaining my sanity. Im not going to waste that trying to educate you any further.
