If you had the time to catch details of witness testimony this week- you heard how much the white women who lived in the housing complex were traumatized by hearing the fight, then the single gun shot & then realizing a life had been killed! I have listened to our black youth talk about how they live each day knowing that they might get shot -- think how that affects their young lives. PLEASE read this and think about why we cannot expect this young woman to testify with the behavior we are accustom to in our part of American culture. Then try to find and listen to the facts she testified about -- and not to the judgements of who she is not. " I’m so sorry that you’re sitting on the stand right now, being interrogated like a criminal instead of another victim. I’m so sorry that people are judging you, fixated more on your beautiful brown skin, your carefully applied make-up, your body, your being, than your trauma and your pain."
