If you havent seen the Selma Movie yet in theatres, I have one word for you: GO! Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and we now see the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, legislation that was ushered in through the work of people like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While weve come a long way in 50 years, it pains me to see the tragically low percentages of people who take the effort and time to vote in each election. Our neighbors, our friends, and our families have shed too much blood for over 200 years to ensure that we have the right to vote, the right for our voice to count. Dont let their injuries, their suffering, and their deaths be in vain.
