If you know me personally, you know my passions are fighting for educational equality and discussing issues of racial inequality(no matter what race or ethnicity). Despite popular belief, there is still a war that is waging on in this country, from immigration, voting rights, public safety, and education. This video that was shared this morning on some of my friends walls is so true in many ways. Having been a victim of racial profiling in my own dear city, and many other instances, having this conversation still plays out to be just an undercurrent, and not properly acknowledged. Yes, even as a young professional, I have found myself having to address certain people, using a weak voice so that I wouldnt be accused of being the angry black man. Yeah that is real, the thought of a black man being assertive is the risk of being seen as unprofessional, but if done by others using the same approach, it would be seen by others as confident and fighter. Hence, why Obama has to be the cool and overly calm guy he is. Yes, I am being politically incorrect this morning to say. I am Michael Brown. Yes, I am Trayvon Martin. After hearing this video clip, I am Wendell Pierce. YES I AM DARRYL BRACKEEN , who totally agrees that we are far from a post racial society.
