If you saw this post somewhere else on our page, forgive me for repeating it, but for some reason it burns me up. Somewhere we were offered the opportunity to gain THOUSANDS of fans. FOR FREE, lol. I was actually shocked at the number of LIKES this post received. I want to be honest here... In a bands world, the more fans you have, the more your net worth is noticed. Thats fine.But only if its merited... We have 16k fans on Reverbnation, a mailing list pushing 1K. Almost 2K fans on Facebook and 14K followers on Twitter. I was sent an email today saying that on a website that boasts 51K listeners, our ORIGINALS are currently ranked #3, 6 and 8. That sounds great. But on average we pull in 10-20 REAL fans at our shows, not in the thousands. Now I understand that our fan bases that lie outside of our immediate area cant make a local show. I know that I see fans/friends promoting us on a regular basis and to be fair- most of them arent even from our home state. Some of our most dedicated fans will never see us play live. Weve sold more CDs in states that weve never even played in. Weve sold CDs in countries I wouldnt bet money we couldnt even afford to fly to, lol. But these are REAL FANS. These are people that keep in regular contact with us. We dont pretend to think were any better than we are. How many times on Facebook have you received the post that says something like Let me see who my real friends are.... Im proud to say that we can tell who our REAL fans are. They show their colors by coming to shows or by sharing our posts. REGULARLY. So to those who want to gain fans that are nothing more than programs, go for it. If the day comes that we want an algorithm instead of hard core family, then we have forsaken the entire reason we do this. I dont want to share my music, my heart, my soul with a mathematical equation. Id rather share it with YOU. We dont need the most friends, just the BEST ones. So if you took the time to read this, then know we are talking about YOU. Whether youre local or not. You are following us. You are real. Numbers are numbers. Family is family. Thank you, we love you. Without you, we are nothing more than an equation. WITH you, we are something bigger.
