If youve known me long enough, it will come as no shock to you that I am shedding genuine tears as I type this update. Since I was even capable of anything approaching sophisticated perception, Jurassic Park has been more important to me than any other piece of fiction to which Ive been exposed. It isnt just a movie; it encapsulates a kind of wonder that reminds me how people should see and react to the world around them, even when its ugly. So naturally, when I heard Jurassic World was being made, I immediately expected the worst. There was simply no way any more could come of this well-worn series without bastardizing what made it so special to me in the first place. This trailer, Im proud to say, couldnt have proven me more wrong. H-O-L-Y smokes. Steven Spielberg has assembled a great cast, a timely approach to the original concept, and a fantastic director to produce what looks like the best entry in the franchise since that fateful summer over 20 years ago. Consider my calendar marked.
