If you’ve driven by the church this week, you may have been a little alarmed — or suspicious about the Ops Committee plans for landscaping (or downright concerned about their bathroom renovations!) Never fear — the Operations Committee is on top of the situation and negotiated an agreement with the Drain Commission last January, as part of the County drain improvement project. Basically, we granted Ingham County rights to: · an access point and “flowage easement” so the project can continue (and our church and neighbors can enjoy dry basements!) · right of entry upon, and passage over, the land for the duration (expected to be done next spring) · temporary storage of equipment and materials (including excavated dirt) The best part of the agreement? We have it in writing that, “Any disturbed areas will be restored to a condition as good or better than the area as it existed prior to any work.” And, last but not least, the church is released from any liability, damages or claims that may result from the project.
