Ive never been one to celebrate the changing of the calendar year. - TopicsExpress

Ive never been one to celebrate the changing of the calendar year. I guess Ive always sensed that the solar year has already been underway for a week by the time the calendar ticks over. I know 2014 has not been a good year for many and I wasnt expecting much for myself. In the end things turned out much better than I could have predicted. Throughout the year I strengthened friendships and associations in the various fields I work in. In January I finished training and initiated as a Priest of the Goddess Bridget. Ive been in Her service since then as healer, bard and blacksmith. Also in this role in the following month I was involved in my first ceremony at the Goddess Hall. I went on to call in and do poetry at five of the eight celebrations this year. March and April were busy with Spring Equinox activities and the beginning of Beltane events. After several years off I was pleased to be doing poetry on Glastonbury Tor for Beltane morning. Later in May I was in London to collect this years Information Excellence Award in Innovation, receiving a framed certificate and Google Nexus 10 tablet. In June I had a small feature in SFX magazine, answering anniversary questions as a long-term subscriber. In August I was pleased to have a reunion with Kellianna, doing a session of chant and poetry on Wearyall hill - eight years after our previous one at Stanton Drew! In September I reached the end of the first year of the Priest/ess of Avalon course and dedicated as a Brother of Avalon. Im now a quarter into the second year. In October I was back in London and surprised to hear my name called out as the winner in the Business Improvement category of the annual GEMS Awards. Also this month I returned to druidry and most of my regular events, now the first year of the Avalon training had completed. In November I took my blacksmithing rig on the road for the first time and held a workshop for this years trainee Priestesses of Bridget. In December I achieved plenty in my usual way of totally ignoring the seasonal madness. I also reached a weight loss target set during the summer. Just through extra walking and dietary tightening I was showing a loss of 30lbs or just over 13Kg. With a new determination to keep it off! One of the first activities of 2015 will be to book an appointment for donating my 50th pint of blood. After this Ill be slowing from 3-4 per year to 2-3 per year. This is because my iron levels are not recovering as quickly as they used to. Whatever you might be doing tonight, have a good changeover and I hope you you have a healthy, prosperous and exciting year ahead.
