How do you explain this dichotomy your courageous letter to Shiite Rouhani condemning him for his reluctance to allow the girl to enter on merit and on the other mourning Imam Hussein? This is open contradiction, condemn them Ike! Dr. Mehr K My secularism does not preach condemnation of 4 billion faithful in the world. You cannot win the argument through extermination of ideas but rather cohabitation of thought and incubation of peaceful methods through which good of every community is highlighted and evil regressed. There is no ultimate good and no ultimate truth atleast, I have not been to find ultimate truth, some provisions of grey area always exist. I am not here to argue, I have no patience for argument, I am a constructive man, talk about making dreams, I will be a partner with you, for me I see beauty in everyone, I seek and highlight that. I find it difficult that people cannot see their own reflection and their own ugliness, that is my problem at least, that proviso helps me mending my own self instead of condemning others. It is me not others. Enlightenment does in no way mean ridiculing established doctrine and creed of faith blindfolded. I promote science, logic and reason like Sagan did. Antiquated cave age dogmatic thought will go into a Rip Van Winkle of a sleep slowly and steadily; I see no reason to fight with 4 billion faithful and create high drama. They mostly are reasonable people living in the hope of help of the Almighty. It is the education of the mind that will give victory over scriptural Puritanism, not foolish innuendos and high insults that are exchanged. Disagree, but please respect the beliefs of others. Enlightened people do not need to rely on the evil pleasure to use dynamite to blow up or be infuriatingly insulting, they need to act with decorum and reverence of an enlightened soul; they need to chip in like a goldsmith. I believe the truth has the luxury of time, I dont need to go to war to prove that 2+2=4. By being in pursuit of your own agenda single-mindedly you become a butcher of reason, exactly like the ones on the other side of the fence. An enlightened mans foremost preoccupation is love and extreme respect of life, even of its most vociferous opponent. It is sad to see that many stoop to new lows in getting very angry and try to evoke hate, there is no need of evoking hate. This argumentative nature is unbecoming of a great thinkers. There is no need of spreading this hate mongering. Enlightened people do not rely on relentless fuming, huffing and puffing, this is a war of ideas - respect others please. Win your argument with love. The idea of open mindedness is based on the eternal truth that man must be free to worship and practice what they believe in. Dont become a self righteous governor of peoples thoughts. We all are on a journey, lets discover with them the road map of the future, lets convince each other. To hold one nation, one people, one creed responsible for all evil our earth is evil, I dont buy that, I am not going to be that enlightened ever. And in my house I am extremely enlightened every one has his own approach to life. Temple, synagogue, mosque, gurdwara or a lodge everyone is free to practice. Dont talk practice. Amen
