Ill be the first to admit that todays #dancers perform some AMAZING tricks. Endless pirouettes, sky-high extensions, and jumps that seem to defy gravity. As impressive as all this is, one of the things that seem to be missing is artistry. Dont get me wrong, I love the tricks because I know from experience how difficult they are to perform, but they pale in comparison to artistic abilities. Dancers such as Allegra Kent, Natalia Makarova, Gelsey Kirkland, Suzanne Farrell, Svetlana Zakharova, Virginia Johnson (featured in the video below) Mikhail Baryshnikov, Anthony Dowell...for me, THESE dancers are some of the dancers who set the standards for TRUE artistry.
