Ill never understand why people fly half way around the world to do charity work when right in their own neighborhood there are people suffering. Then people cheer them on like they are Heros. The Lord said love your neighbor and charity starts at home Your neighbors and family problems may not be huge and dramatic like those of people on far off shores but The Lord surrounded you with those he expected you to love and care for. True you wont get an award for hugging the lonely. No one will write a story about how you helped carry in groceries. They wont put a plaque up on a wall when u anonymously slip someone some money to help them thru their week. You wont be posing pics on fb of the kind words you said to uplift another. People wont shake your hand because you helped that overworked mom with her kids. However you will be engraved upon the heart of those you helped and that one act of kindness may save their life. You may take the pain away from someone who has suffered a lifetime if only for a moment to allow them to breath free. Honestly if you have to buy a plane ticket to feel like your life is justified then your doing it wrong.Every person you meet deserves a smile. Compassion should start in your home and radiate out. If you have been blessed try to bless every person you meet on the road. Isnt that what the savior taught us. To stop and lift up the one fallen by the road. To comfort the grieving at our door step. To free the hungry in our eyesight. To love the child standing at out feet.
