Im a candidate for Trustee for Bayville from the Bayville Revitalization Party Bayville , and I can assure everyone that in spite of the misinformation being purposely spread by our opposition, who KNOW they are lying, we have ZERO intentions of doing ANYTHING that will change the independent, small-town nature of Bayville in ANY way. Gaetana Liantonio-McBride posted totally false and baseless claims attacking us on several Bayville-related Facebook pages. She does not know me and she does not have any direct knowledge of what I want to do when elected, so anything she writes about my intentions, or the intentions of my fellow candidates, is pure fiction. These are the same kind of false rumors the TIP people spread whenever their grasp on power is threatened. They told people the same untrue dirt about Hank Pinkerton when he ran two years ago, and absolutely NONE of those threats came true, not even remotely. These same people spread rumors during this campaign that we would close the library, close the scout room, charge Little League to use the village fields, give control of Bayville to other authorities like the Town of Oyster Bay, they even stooped so low as to send a mailer out to all Bayville homes saying that Paul Rupp didnt walk in a parade a few years ago, so hes not Patriotic. Mayor Watson knew Paul had Gout and couldnt walk, yet he still signed his name to that atrocious attack. Paul works in the defense industry, his brothers are senior officers in the Army and Navy, they and his sister all served multiple combat tours in the Middle East. To accuse Paul of being un-Patriotic is an underhanded and shameful attempt to smear his good name. Its beneath anyone who has the honor of holding public office. It seems that every day they make up and spread more lies about us. This is what people lower themselves to when they have nothing positive to run on. Ive lived in Bayville for over 50 years and I love this village. It upsets me to see Bayville looking like such a dump in too many areas. Im a champion of the natural beauty here, as anyone who has seen my photography on my Beautiful Bayville Facebook page knows. It is ludicrous to think that I would condone ANYTHING that would destroy this lovely small community. WHAT WE WILL DO IS ENFORCE CODES, get Bayville looking beautiful again, straighten out the finances - which are a disaster under Mayor Watson (4th worst village in ALL of NY State according to the NYS Comptroller), and run a completely open, responsive, efficient and effective government. We have the qualifications to do that, and then some. We are all senior corporate executives, plus we all have significant civil service experience, on a voluntary basis. Tim Charon and I served on Bayvilles NY Rising Committee, putting in long hours every week for months, working against overwhelming odds and small budgets to help come up with solutions that might help Bayville survive future storms. I was President of Bayvilles largest homeowners association for five years. I am on the Board of Directors of the National Crime Prevention Council, to which I was appointed by the Attorney General of the United States. I co-founded and managed, along with a former Bayville Fire Company Chief, Revitalize West Shore Road, the successful effort to reopen West Shore Rd. before July, as opposed to Mayor Watson, when he expressed no problem with the road being closed until September. His quote on CBS NY TV news on this subject: It is what it is - my comment on the same broadcast - Where theres a will, theres a way. Joe Russo and Paul Rupp also have a long history of extensive voluntary community involvement. In short, we all give back, and every thing weve worked on for our community is on a completely voluntary basis. We need and want NOTHING out of these offices except to make Bayville healthy again. Anyone who says we are in it for our own gain knows nothing about any of us. We are all very successful in private life, we do not need anything and we do not have a hidden agenda, we are doing this campaign and putting ourselves out there to help - PERIOD. We do not need anything from this village except its support, we want and expect nothing in return except a vibrant and beautiful village. Yes, in the past TIP did some good things, many good things in fact, and I was a supporter - but they also made some expensive mistakes, some of which we are still paying for. Most importantly, NOTHING positive has happened under Mayor Watson. We are not running against anyone from the past - no seated Trustees are up for re-election, we are only running against an incompetent mayor and his hand-picked Trustee candidates. While all good people, they have nowhere near our credentials or experience, and voting them in would be to give Mayor Watson full control again as TIP Trustees are told to get in line and vote as ordered, no independent thinking is permitted. Mayor Watson would have a blank check to let the blight, financial mismanagement and secretive government continue. It is way past time to vote for a change for the better.
