Im back!!! But no, not with an angry rant. Im back with a full heart (and maybe throughout the day a few tears in the eyes). Today I signed the lease on my SECOND location for RockStars Music Studios. Ten years ago I came back to California after realizing the world had moved on from dial up internet, trying to figure out what the hell to do with my life. My friend Mike said, hey Im teaching at this school that needs a guitar teacher. You should apply! So I started teaching guitar out in Whittier. Within three months Id decided that I absolutely loved it, thought I could do it better and that Id start my own school. RockStars was born. Thanks to some very special people who put their faith (both spiritually and financially) in me, we were able to get a location opened in 2006. I remember signing that first lease and thinking, This will be easy. In two years Ill have 500 students and then just start opening new locations. Ill be a billionaire by the time Im 30. Well, it didnt quite go that way... But thanks to those special people whove believed in me and my mission along the way, were one step closer. Mark Bouras (the shredder) Chris Merritt Andy Stavas Jason Land Dave Rosser Andrea Calderwood Alex Wright Matt Yeakley Will Kaczmarek Gina Saputo Courtney Lemmon Elise Agredano Chris Horney Jessica Burgan Priscilla Lee Eddie Oropeza Angela Granito Shane Chesnut Syreeta Neal Andrew Tyler Gene Luzala Sydney Boodman My old boss in whittier for running a music school good enough to make a lot of money, but bad enough to make me believe I could do it better The jerk manager at the computer sales company who fired me after six months for constantly impersonating and mocking him, which lit a fire under my ass to get the school going And of course everyone of you whove been a part of this thing... To say the least its been a journey. A journey that is only going to get wilder and crazier and even more epic (sorry Stephanie) than it already has been. Thank you to everyone whos supported the school and me... whether by letting me hang out with your kids every week, or just offering support and encouragement to keep going when it gets tough. You have no idea how many times Ive wanted to quit when it seemed like it was all too much to handle over the last ten years... you help keep me going.
