Im constantly examining and dissecting food businesses as an entrepreneur--mainly commercials, product packaging and press stuff...I know I imply sometimes that big companies like Pepsi are the bad guys but you have to admire their marketing strategies. Pepsi Throwback With Real Sugar played the whole nostalgia card, now Pepsi Cola Real Sugar has a massive ad campaign on how to have a real summer. These are EXACTLY the same sodas, ingredient for ingredient, both on the market simultaneously. Then ya got plain old Pepsi which I guess would be original Pepsi now (though really these real sugar ones are the original recipes.) Sales is not just sizzle before steak, it is truly calculated campaigns and story-telling. I dont fall for these gimmicks but most do, and thats ok, most of our mentalities with buying anything come down to presentation and convincing ourselves we are transporting to some cool place the company subtly (or blatantly) tells us our minds are going to but of course we arent. Quality is never determined by an artsy logo, catchy slogan, song, mascot or time traveling tale. All very trippy messages here but hey very effective.
