Im fixing to do something i dont do alot of...brag on my family. Tonight my sister LaRee Parrish Findley was awarded her first ever teacher of the year. Now LaRee is not one to do something for praise and she sure doesnt teach to be patted on the back. However there are some things that a lot of people dont know. First of all when she graduated college her dream was to go back to her old high school and teach...she applied and was hired only to have the rug pulled from under her feet. She scrambled around and found a teaching job in Sylvester. Also a lot of people think teachers are well paid. Haha her first job in Sylvester lasted 8 school years and she made maybe 12000 dollars a year at the most. And on top of that her first three years I was in her history classes, talk about being thrown to the wolves. Looking back it was kind of unfair to her because she had to bend over backwards to make sure she showed me no favortism....tall order for a rookie teacher making squat. She had to leave home at 7 am every morning and drive through narrow country backroads to be there on time. I could go on and on but ill leave you with this....she has taught in the decade of the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and now 10s and is still going strong. Im very proud of my sister. Oh btw...she knows history
