Im going to speculate that the future of computing will be locked - TopicsExpress

Im going to speculate that the future of computing will be locked down so that nobody will be able to hide data. It will take many years to phase out and confiscate personal computers and storage devices, and to migrate everyone to cloud based applications. Its already optionally available and has its risks/benefits, but I predict that in order to ensure security of data and to protect the world from violent extremist terrorists, it will be mandated, and all passing packets logged. The obsolete, out of production computer grab will begin as people instead login from a dumb terminal to their globally available profile where a government entity maintains their data. Hiding and using ancient USB flash drives, PCs with ide/sata hard disks, banned android phones, or any other insecure storage medium will be a punishable offense. Since security is a myth and any OS can be compromised as soon as it connects to the net, computing systems capable of storing data will only be allowed to be run by authorized parties. Or, maybe the future mandates of security will mean no device may be operated with the NSA app, without which it will be scrambled as soon as they detect the rogue unautherized device, maybe its already on your device... The trick is to not have anything to hide.
