Im going to talk story for a moment: A couple of years back, we were in Salzburg, Austria with our neighbors Bob & Elsbeth on a Danube holiday river cruise; Salzburg was one of the excursions (thanks Lorene Romero!). After we inadvertently caught the end of a service at the cathedral -- we were also inadvertently blessed by the priest as he passed by with his incense and happily none of us burst into flames -- Jay spotted a mysterious restaurant tucked into a square. It had but one small copper sign at the top of a curved entryway and thats it. As it turns out, its the oldest restaurant in Europe: stpeter-stiftskeller.at/. He ran in and miraculously, they could seat us for late lunch with no reservation. It felt like we were descending into the earth into a holiday extravaganza -- it was late November -- and Ive never seen so many decorations. The same priest we had just seen was already sitting in the front room having sausage and beer (obviously secret tunnel access). We took that as a good sign and ended up having the turkey dish pictured here. To say the taste blew our minds is a galactic understatement. Tomorrow Jay Nelson and I are going to try and recreate as much of it as we can, just for the two of us. Wish us luck! P.S. Guillermo Casarrubias: we may need to have another go at this when you return. P.S.S. Sherlock is doing well. Drainage tubes are out and we are doing thrice daily warm soaks to keep wound draining and applying neosporin. Its far less gory than its been so Im happy, though he still looks a little like Franken-Kitty. The two remaining stitches he hasnt yet yanked out (ahem) come out Friday morning. We are thankful for his recovery :)
