Im having an odd conflict of ideals here, fellow CFers. I had a typical office apt with my neurologist this Monday to check how I was doing on my MS treatment, get refills written for prescriptions and the like. My fiancé was there with me since I wanted to bring up a shift in my moods and my bi-polar getting noticeably worse over the past few months. I did tell him that I had been put on depo, and that it could possibly be the culprit. I asked if there was anything I could possibly do while I wait for my apt to see my female-parts dr to talk about other options. I love my neurologist to death, but what he said next kind of rubbed me the wrong way.. you know that if you get pregnant with MS you will have no relapses and hardly any symptoms, right? You would have to get off treatment though, since it could hurt the baby. well yes, thats all fine and dandy, but we dont want kids. if you have children, then youll have someone to take care of you if you end up having to be wheel chair-bound! Im not sure.. But I think he may have said that just to trigger me, and watch me rapid cycle moods. I got very defensive of my decision, and explained my views. Needless to say, I ended up walking out of the office with a prescription for a mood stabilizer.. Dont get me wrong, oxcarbazepine is an amazing medication, and I feel mellow now that Im taking it. I was wondering if anyone thinks what I think about his motive to gauge my reaction when bringing up a topic that he knows is a personal pet-peeve of mine.. Thoughts?
