Microsoft Surface RT vs iPad: Now that I have both tablets I can say that the iPad definitely wins (as much as it pains me to say it). The Surfaces problems are its crippled desktop mode - why cant I install Python or Ruby on it? - and the fact that the few Not-Metro apps that are available are sub-par. Sure the games are just as good as the iPads, but I have yet to find a decent e-reader app - while the one that comes pre-installed on the iPad kicks ass. Sure there are a few things that annoy me about the iPad, like why in the 21st century cant I just slap a microSD in the thing to increase my storage and the infuriating Apple single-button-must-rule-all design philosophy but these are minor annoyances at this point. MS is going to have to do better than a keyboard flip-cover and a USB port if they really want to attack this market. Oh, and the camera on my first gen Surface RT sucks - hopefully better on the 2.
