Im hoping that this post doesnt offend you/hurt your feelings/cause you to unfriend me BUT..... I dont want kids. Never did. Never will. I realize that to some folks that sentiment is unthinkable. Nevertheless, its how I feel. I am weary of (well meaning) people telling me that I couldve been a great mom. OR I will regret not having kids or THERES STILL TIME!!! or Have you considered adoption? or Get a surrogate or Your husband will leave you someday when he decides he wants a child after all or, unbelievably, Youre not a complete woman unless youve had a child. STOP. I love kids. Thats why I pitch and investigate child abuse/neglect/murder stories. I want to bring to justice people who hurt them. Children are often overlooked in our system and I feel called to be a voice for these (and other) vulnerable victims. I would take a bullet for your kid. But please stop making me (and others that dont want to have children) try to feel bad or guilty about our choice not to procreate. The fact is, some women dont want children. (I dont.) Some women cant have children. (Two of my friends cant.) Some men dont want children. (My husband doesnt. And some of his friends claim to have been pressured into it.) Some men cant have children. (We have a friend that cant.) AND there are plenty of people that have kids that shouldnt. Truth. I agree that I couldve been a great mom had I chosen to be. But I chose not to. And theres this little thing in America called A WOMANS RIGHT TO CHOOSE. Please respect my choice. Id love to hear your thoughts... XO
