Im just going to say this as a general statement for ALL the local musicians out there. Key word: General. Not aiming at anyone. I simply say this because I really think it should be a local musician/music venue RULE. If youre in a touring band (once your band leaves the city you reside in, regardless of distance, you are in a touring band) that goes to another city, I EXPECT the band(s) from that city to play AFTER my band regardless of whos more talented. The bands I am in are good bands. There is nothing cocky about me saying that because I feel confident. But once again, I expect to play before any of the bands from that area that I travel to. Why you may ask??? Simply put like this. I am there to steal/share your fans, for lack of a better term. Why am I going to play after the local band when their fans, family, and friends are more than likely there to see that band. What do you want to do? Play for no one?! Its logic, people!!! Unless your band feels like they have a good enough following to headline a show, or play after the local band, then so be it. NOW, if you dont want to open because you think no one will show up, then it is YOUR FAULT for not pressuring the local bands to promote. Im going to sound like an asshole and I dont care, but almost 90% of local musicians do not promote very well. Sharing a stupid flier on Facebook does not help. This is where old school beats new school. Get off your lazy asses...print 30-50 fliers and post them around town. I GUARANTEE you that more people will show up. Local musicians, put in more work. Please. I am hypocrite for saying all of this ( I know a few of you will think that), but as time goes by...I learn more about how the music scene works. I apologize to any band that Ive (or my band) have maybe done none of what I just said, but Ive made it up to a lot of you simply because Ive learned my lesson. If you feel like Ive ( or any of my bandmates) have done you wrong in this sort of way, message me and I will guarantee you a badass show or a better show than most shows youve played. Bet, SUCKAHS. Sorry for the rant, but start doing your job
