Im not sure how more involved parties feel, nor do I know how those who have been, will be, or are presently police officers feel, but Im with John Oliver on this one. I believe that the police are there to keep the peace, they are civil servants meant to uphold the law. Last I checked these duties that police are required to perform require more tact and diplomacy than brawn and hostility. Now thay being said there are times when use of force is needed, but the fact police forces have access to military equipment and vehicles is disgusting. The sad part is that a lot of police academies ( in the states) are militarized. When did police go from the diplomatic to the destructive? How can this be fixed? What are your thoughts? Im really interested to know how people who can relate feel. Ruth-Anne Horton Kavanagh and my grandfather are people Id like to hear from about this.
