Im not sure if this was even part of what I was supposed to get out of todays SEA lecture but I find myself wondering about and questioning the legitimacy of my own art aesthetic and inspiration as well as that of other artists. Like for some reason its ok for Andy Warhol to make prints of celebrities but when I make work about the legitimate art inspiration I receive from a celebrity its not important enough of a subject to make art about. I feel pressure to find some super deep concepts about things that to me arent important (not that I discredit the importance to another artist) but when I make art about something that to me is important and I know for a fact is relatable to my target audience its not important enough to make high art about. I dont know, I need to think about it more and figure out exactly where the disconnect is but all I know is I love art but sometimes it makes me mad.
