Im probably going to receive a lot of flak for this; but something aint right about this... Dont get me wrong- the overflowing support and patriotism as a result of this weeks events have been extremely heartwarming to witness, and Ive never been prouder to call Ottawa home. BUT is throwing $200k of crowdsourced money to the family really necessary? When comrades of mine were killed overseas in combat operations where was the $200k for their families? Although the circumstances are different; no death is more heroic than any other. When you put the uniform on, there is always a risk that you will make the ultimate sacrifice whenever it comes knocking on your door. Sometimes I really dont understand the society in which we live... Please friends, if you feel motivated to contribute to a cause in any of sort of way- do so by supporting the many great Canadian non-profits such as WoundedWarriorsCA or the HeroFund or any other outlet where funds help a greater good instead of shovelling a ridiculous amount of cash towards one or two families simply because there stories have received the most media attention. cbc.ca/news/canada/families-of-nathan-cirillo-and-patrice-vincent-to-get-help-from-crowdfunding-campaign-1.2811038
