Im selling HOT HOUSE an Original, Signed Painting by ANDREW TURNER… $12,500. This beautiful acrylic on canvas piece is 54 x 42 and come with an appraisal from October Gallery in Philadelphia. Must be picked up. Celebrated artist and dedicated educator, Andrew Turner was born in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1944. Turner developed an interest in art early into his childhood and began painting while a high school student in Chester. He received his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in 1968. As an artist, Turner drew inspiration from the energy of Jazz music, the rich heritage of his community and the everyday experiences of African-Americans. His career was characterized by many achievements and honors, including being appointed Artist-in-Residence and Curator at the DeShong Museum in Chester; and lecturing at Widener University, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the University of Pennsylvania and the People’s Republic of China. His artwork has been commissioned by WDAS FM, WUSL FM, Robin Hood Dell, Reverse Angle Productions and Marco Solo just to name a few. Turner’s dynamic works have also been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art, African American Museum in Philadelphia, Sande Webster Gallery, October Gallery, National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, University of the Arts, Avondale Gallery and many others. In addition to his illustrious career as an artist, Andrew Turner also taught art for grades K-12 in the Chester public school system for sixteen years and at several correctional facilities throughout the Delaware Valley. Andrew Turner passed away in 2001, leaving behind a tremendous legacy. The artwork of Andrew Turner is widely represented in numerous private and public collections. The many collectors of his work include: Mr. & Mrs. Bill Cosby, Dr. Maya Angelou, Woody Allen, Prince, Moses Malone, Eric Lindros, Philadelphia Mayor John Street, Dr. Constance Clayton, William Meek, the Philadelphia Art Museum, Swarthmore College, Widener University, Penn State University, Bell Telephone, PNC Bank, United Bank, South Jersey Museum of Art and Culture, MBNA America and Cigna Corporation.
