Im sharing because it relates to my comment about the dislodged toggle video. This is the rental I was using. If you stop video just before (poor, newbie, not proud of) exit, and during docking you will see that my right riser protective cover just starts to open on exit and left is completely open in FF. (Right is also open in FF, and think I can see left riser actually being pulled out a bit on 2nd dock.) Had a previous solo jump where I heard (felt) something flapping. Instructor on ground that jump commented on the squirrely opening, where canopy went right into a turn. I reached for toggles right away, and frankly dont recall if one was dislodged-- just reacted by pulling them both and turn stopped. After thinking about it -- Im sure flapping sound/vibration was a dislodged toggle. I told staff and they discounted as oh, thats OK no problem. My video jump attached was made a couple weeks after the solo jump, and you can see both cover protective flaps open --heck they would open in the vehicle on the ride to the A/C. Made a few hop/pops with same rental (only rental available) until my new (used) rig arrived-- one reason I did not want to go to terminal velocity is I did not trust this issue. I think peeps underestimate the problem this minor container problem can cause, that the dislodged toggle video shows. Theres potential for a number of bad outcomes with worn container riser covers that dont stay closed. Just saying...
