Im torn on the news about the dissolution of Mars Hill Church. On the one hand, I hate the thought that some good people could lose their church home because a bank didnt approve the transfer of the debt from Mars Hill to the new independent church entity OR that the satellite churchs leaders might simply decide not to bother with continuing as an independent church. On the other hand, having spent my high school years in a church that can only be described as a cult of personality - by my sophomore year, my parents had quit going entirely and I only continued because I had all my friends in the youth group - given that the church was dominated by the frat boy hate-filled attitude of Mark Driscoll, this was probably inevitable and ultimately getting people out of the anti-Christ-like atmosphere he created has to be a good thing.
