Im trying to teach my gelding how to lower his head and do a western pleasure trot and a slow his lope. He does fairly well but his head shoots up when i try to slow him down or stop him. Im only 15 and im trying to train him myself but i have had some training with natural horsemanship but im wanting him to learn for professional shows. I ride with a mikmar rancher bit and he seems alright but it just makes him extra sensitive in the mouth and give him better brakes. Any advice from western pleasure trainers or anyone who can help me would be appreciated :) thank you!
