Imaam Muslim also narrated in his Sahih the Hadith of Anas ibn Malik (RAA) in the story of the Battle of Badr: “The polytheists (now) advanced (towards us), and the Messenger of Allah (SAAWS) said: “Get up to enter Paradise, the width of which is equal to the heavens and the earth.” Umair bin Al-Humam Al-Ansari (RAA) said: “Messenger of Allah (SAAWS) Is Paradise equal in extent to the heavens and the earth?” He (SAAWS) said: “Yes.” Umair (RAA) said: “Good, Good!” The Messenger of Allah (SAAWS) asked him, “What prompted you to utter these words (i.e. good, good!)?” He replied, “Messenger of Allah (SAAWS)! Nothing but the desire that I be among its residents” He (SAAWS) said: “You are (surely) among its residents.” Then Umair (RAA) took out dates from his bag and began to eat them. Then he said, “If I were to live until I have eaten all these dates of mine, it would be a long life.” (The narrator said): “He threw away all the dates he had with him and fought the enemies until he was killed.”
