My 12 hours of Community Work in Croydon I spent today doing community work as a Duty Governor in a primary school in Croydon. Below is the diary of my activities for the day. 8.45-9.00: Gate Duty. I was at the gate with the head teacher to welcome pupils to school. It was a good experience seeing the children saying good morning to their headteacher as they come to school. 9.15-9.30: I ran the KS2 assembly where I presented awards to winners of the Easter Egg Competition. 9.30 - 10.00: I went to Class 2a where I observed 30 pupils in a class performing different activities on iPad 10.O0-11.00: Met a teacher who briefed me on Coaching with NLP. 11.00-11.20: Followed Year 2c pupils to the ICT Suite with (16 new touchscreen computers) where they designed a powerpoint presentation with images from google. 11.20-12.00: I observed a science lesson. An excellent session in my opinion. 12.15 - 12.45: Had lunch with the children in the dinner hall. 12.45 - 1.15: I attended I Can Achieve (ICA) a support mechanism club for pupils. 2.00-3.30: I did a presentation to the senior leadership team on Coaching as an Important Tool for Increase Performance. 3.30 - 4.30: I attended year 4 parent/career maths workshop. An interesting workshop where parents supported their children to develop their maths skill. 4.30 - 6.00: Met with the headteacher to discuss my general observations. 6.30 - 8.45: Attended Governors Training on Teacher Pay and Appraisal: The Role of Governor. 12 hours of community work.
