Imam Malik is the Imam of Madina, the Abode of the Hijra from the third generations of the salaf, who passed away in the year 179 AH [approxiamately 795 CE]. His school is unique in representing the living Prophetic sunna as mass- transmitted by the inhabitants of Madina al- Munawwara, the blessed city where the sharia was revealed.
