Immigration Inaction (Mental Gymnastics) There is a new plan to allow undocumented workers become legal workers by meeting a few conditions. But, there is a problem. These workers who become legal workers will pay taxes. By paying taxes, their incomes come into question. Therefore, they will have a right to a minimum wage as any other American worker. Undocumented workers have jobs because their employers dont want to pay American workers. Therefore, they will not take our jobs. Ironically they will lose their jobs to undocumented workers. If the terms of their path to citizenship include employment and they dont have a high school education, as many dont, they will have two options: work under the table as most undocumented workers, or face deportation. When enough undocumented workers are deported for not being employed, undocumented workers will stop coming forward to become legal workers. This is a revolving door. In the big picture, it wont help undocumented workers much, but more importantly, it spreads racism by convincing both Whites and Non-Whites that immigrants, mainly Latino, are taking their jobs and benefits away from them. Its the ole Okey-Doke. Dont Fall for it.
