In 1927, the Moss Beach Distillery in Moss Beach, California was opened as a speakeasy, then later a restaurant. Supposedly while there, a young lady in blue was in love with a piano player at the distillery. However, the couple could not be together because the lady was married to a bootlegger. One night, the couple decided to meet at the Moss Beach, and while they were together, the young ladys bootlegger husband confronted the piano player. The piano player pulled out a knife and the bootlegger pulled out a gun. The young lady tried to put herself between her two lovers but the piano player accidentally stabbed the young woman and she died. Some believe that this young woman is the Blue Lady, who supposedly haunts the Moss Beach Distillery. The workers at the restaurant have apparently had their necks blown upon by an unknown spirit, had their names called out of nowhere, and one of the managers had a book fly off her shelves. Several witnesses have seen the Lady in Blue as well, either at or near the restaurant. Another theory as to the Blue Ladys identity is that she is Alma Reed, a woman who was in love with a popular Hispanic singer in the early 1930s, who killed herself by drowning in the ocean because she was not allowed to be with the singer. The last theory to the ghosts identity is from psychic Sylvia Browne, who claimed that the woman was Mary Ellen Morley, who died from crushing blows to the head and body. Two of the workers were able to find records that prove a woman named Mary Ellen Morley died while on her way to visit her mothers grave after her car turned over. She died from crushing blows to the head and body, exactly how Browne predicted. The true identity of the Blue Lady is unknown, if she even exists, but many still believe that the ghosts at the restaurant are real.
