In 1975, my ship, USS Nimitz, dropped anchor in Wilhelmshaven, Germany for a port visit . As the liberty boat I was riding in was going from the ship to the shore, I saw a guy at the bow wearing a purple and gold high school jacket. After the boat tied up, I caught up with him on the dock. As I passed him, I looked at the jacket and it had a gold W. I asked him if that was a Wossman jacket and said yes. I got his name but have since forgot it. I saw him later that day in Wilhelmshaven but I never saw him again. Nimitz had 5,000 crewmen so its hard to run into someone more than once if you didnt work around them. If that happened in 75 and he didnt graduate in 73 with me, he had to have graduated in 74 and no later than 75 but Im thinking 74. Anyone know who that might have been?
