In 2014, we built new trails and improved existing trails; we supported 1,700 volunteers, including recruiting and training hundreds of new ones; we maintained more than 2,100 miles of trails in the region; maintained 30 lean-tos in the Catskills; published trail maps and trail books; moved into e-books; conserved land in the Shawangunks and worked with partners on preservation projects elsewhere; we expanded our hiker education outreach at Breakneck Ridge; launched the Catskill Conservation Corps with NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation; launched our own AmeriCorps conservation program; we led fights to stop casinos at Sterling Forest and adjacent to Harriman State Park; worked with park managers to improve trail access for hikers at Harriman. And when we say We, we mean all of us, including you. If you do nothing else, please make a year-end gift to a cause that matters to you: trail hiking. We make it happen in our region.
