In Deuteronomy 31 we see Moses realising that he is about to die, - TopicsExpress

In Deuteronomy 31 we see Moses realising that he is about to die, he passes the baton to Joshua, and records the laws in a permanent form. He then prepares the people for his departure so that their dependency should rest only on God and not man. He also instructs Joshua to be courageous and bold. Then after Moses’ death, God endorses Joshua as successor and lays down requirements needed to crossover. The journey from Egypt to Canaan had been multiple crossings – Jordan and the Red Sea, and all had specific requirements. When God told Joshua to break camp and get ready to cross the Jordan, He had to prepare the whole camp. He sent the spies secretly to go and view the land of Jericho. He needed to know where he was going by having a picture or vision of the place. As Christian Leaders in ministry, we need to have clarity about the place we are going to, by having that clear picture or vision of the place we are heading to. Joshua 3:1 shows Joshua standing at the very threshold of the Promised Land. In the natural the crossing was impossible. He did not waver for he trusted the God who brought them there. Sometimes things may seem impossible and difficult but we should just have to rely on God. We should not go looking for the bridge, but to just wait for His outstretched arm that is ready to deliver. During the wait they cleansed themselves as instructed. It is important to note that the cleansing ceremony demonstrated the importance of approaching God with a pure heart. Joshua declared in verse 5 of chapter 3, ‘Cleanse yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.’ All the people following behind the Ark with a clear distance of about 500 yards were waiting for the Priests to show them the way. The Leading team of priests and the Joshua paved a way for everyone to follow. It is a great challenge. If the leaders do not step into the water, the Jordan will not part and no one will cross. This is a great responsibility for the Visionary. When they finally crossed the River Jordan, they built a monument of stones to remind them from where they came from and understanding that it was all God’s hand that delivered them. We need to establish something that is lasting-generational-cutting edge. If we are not sitting on the edge we are taking up too much room.
