In Ethiopia, every government has realized that stable Somalia means unstable Ethiopia. Both during the emperors time and during Derg regime, there were number of rebels based in Somalia. It is not like Eritrea based rebels that have got nothing to prove on the ground of any battlefield wins against Wayyaane; it was very formidable fight that the midget Hailesilase and the butcher Mengistu had to confront almost on daily basis. For the Oromos, Somalis were both threats and friends. On one side, they claimed that Eastern Oromia is part of Somalia by pulling new name for the Harar Oromos as Somali Abo. On the other hand, Somalis have always friended anyone fighting the Ethiopian government, now and in the past and Oromos have and could use that opportunity. One thing is clear, in 1970s and 1960s the name Oromo was not even common so the realities of Oromo nationalism was not probably heard among the Somalis. But now, I hope they do realize Oromia is a big nation that has come half way to freedom. The stability of Somalia, against the long standing thoughts of the Abyssinians, would help greatly the Oromos. I would even incline to say our struggle would be much much easier if there is peace in Somalia. Of course, the ONLF might not be happy with stable Somalia because the Somalis would absolutely fight with Ethiopian forces to reclaim lost territories such as the Ogaden. #RestorePeaceToSomalia
