In June 2013, my folks - Patrick Adjei Nketia, Sylvia Yirenkyi, Farid Shamsu-deen Al-Tijani Al-Ibrahimi, Dorinda Saah, Portia Oppong Baffour, Moses Tia and I representing different organisations were selected by 350.org to participate in the Global Power Shift (GPS) Climate Change training in Istanbul, Turkey. Arguably, it was the biggest youth ‘PowerShift’ gathering of different nationals numbering over 500. As part of the project, participants were required to plan and implement Phase II of GPS in their respective countries. Countries were to develop and submit proposals for possible funding. I am happy to announce that the Ghana team known as “Ghana Reducing our Carbon [G-ROC]” affiliated to 350.org has recently received a grant of $10,000 (ten thousand US dollars) to implement our climate change project. Our core mandate is to: 1. Build power 2. Strategize and 3. Shiftpower (all in the name of promoting renewable energy) This project is expected to be planned, implemented and owned by Ghanaian youth. We are therefore inviting all young people in Ghana passionate about climate change campaign to join us in this project. Already, some young people have expressed interest – more are needed! If you are interested, please inbox me your email address [chibeze@hotmail] so I can send you detailed information. On behalf of my colleagues, I want to especially thank Lushendrie Naidu (350.org Coordinator) who has been extremely instrumental and very accommodating throughout the processes. We look forward to mobilization to shiftpower! JOIN US!!!
