In Thomas Jeffersons original rough draft of the Declaration of Independence, he used the word sacred instead of self-evident to describe the truths about the equal creation of all men. We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independant, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..... Whatever your religious beliefs, you cant deny that the Founders of this country believed themselves to be doing Gods work in creating this country and breaking away from England. Even a Deist like Jefferson, who was accused by many of his time of atheism, did not shy away from religiously charged speech in his public pronouncements. This public use of religious speech by our Founders is quite simply a historical fact which will still be ignored and denied by liberals who have little or no respect for historical truth.
