In Tripura,like the whole country,the Womens Day was observed with much pomp and drum-beatings keeping the marginal women working in brickfields,tea-gardens,domestic helpers etc. completely ignored. A few sophisticated women ensconsed in Benarasi Silk or Zamdani Sari after having a heavy lunch with roasted chickens ,Hilsha fry and prawns, shed crocodile tears in the arranged meetings in various townhalls and air-conditioned Hotels. What a farce! In fact,these psycophant women work under a certain political umbrella and bark as their masters trained. Despite their costly garments and paraphernalia, I find them standing naked before a working woman in a field .
