In a new book by Richard Sakwa it is argued that Khodorkovskys emerging political ideology walks a thin line, in that he appears to be pursuing the promotion of Russias national interests through a democratic movement, instead of promoting democracy itself against national interests. Why are some reformers thought of as unpatriotic, and why are many self-described patriots against reform in Russia?
