In a special message to Congress, on March 16, 1964 President - TopicsExpress

In a special message to Congress, on March 16, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson outlined a Proposal for A Nationwide War On The Sources of Poverty, which became known as the War on Poverty. That war failed. In 2013, Conservatives and Tea Party extremists have unleashed a war against the poor, veterans, senior citizens, and women. That too will fail. Like the lunatic fringe of the left, the lunatic fringe of the right is not grounded in reality, or history. Ronald Reagan believed in a safety net, this gang does not. As long as they proclaim extreme positions, outright lie, and cling to theory, as though theory and fact are synonyms, and they are not synonyms, the GOP will continue to not hold the Senate, and will not win the White House. He who captures the middle, wins the election, is an old political saw, and it is true. The GOP needs to get off the hate train, and back onto the pro business train if they want to be the ruling party again. They are so far off those tracks, they cant even see that rail line. It is an embarrassing time to be a Republican, and Conservative. By the way, libertarians are not conservative, and they are a cancer on the party. So is the Constitutional crowd, who have no idea what the constitution is and proclaim that they, and they alone have license to what is constitutional, and what isnt, which of course is as inane as their proclaiming they have the inside track on the cure for cancer, or how to turn base metal into gold. They are wholly ignorant of the constitution, or they would not think we have moved away from the document.
