In case you dont know, ALS is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis a.k.a. lou gehrigs disease. The word amyoptrophic means no muscle nourishment, the word lateral is simply the place where the nerve cell in a persons spinal cord are located, and the word sclerosis is the hardening or scarring of a region of a muscle because of the degeneration that occurs. Symptoms are weakness to extremities, speech impediment, difficulties with swallowing, breathing, and your limbs begin to look thinner. So basically ALS is when the muscles dont get the messages to move from the messenger (neurons), the muscles begin to waste away and theybegin to die. Causes are not known, there is no cure, and only one medication so far that FDA approved even though there are many currntly in clinical trals. We nominated and we donated, please do the same!
